Showing at Lincoln Gallery’s 2023 National Photography Show

I am incredibly excited to announce that one of my portraits has been selected for the 2023 National Photography Show at the Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Colorado!

Out of a highly competitive pool of entries from across the country, my portrait of the brilliant Denver drag queen Anastasia Krystals was chosen to be part of this prestigious exhibition. This piece captures the poise, glamour, and artistry that Anna brings to every performance.

Why This Show Matters

The Lincoln Gallery is a cornerstone of the Northern Colorado art scene, and their National Photography Show is known for showcasing a high caliber of technical and creative work. Having a piece of drag portraiture recognized in a national juried environment like this is a proud moment—it’s a celebration of queer art and identity standing alongside the best photography in the nation.

Jay Cupcake

I’ve always believed that a great portrait is a collaboration, not just a click of a shutter. My name is Jay, and for over a decade, I’ve been capturing the vibrant, the surreal, and the unapologetically authentic. Recently relocated from the mountains of Colorado to the Twin Cities, I bring an editorial eye and a 'laughter-first' philosophy to every session.

My work spans the spectrum of the human experience—from photographing the Mayor of Denver for Civilian Magazine to creating high-concept digital collages featuring the icons of the drag and variety scene. Whether I’m building a complex 100-layer digital piece or capturing a clean, professional headshot, my goal is to make my subjects feel like the most powerful version of themselves. I don't just take pictures; I help personalities shine through.
