Perspectives of the High Desert: Showing at D’Art Gallery

I am thrilled to announce that my work has been selected for "Verdant Southwest: 22 Perspectives," a premier group exhibition hosted by Open Studios. This show brings together a curated group of 22 artists from across Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona to share their unique visions of our stunning corner of the world.

Front and Center

I was especially honored to see my digital collage featured prominently in the upper right corner of the official exhibition flyer. The piece—which features a vibrant figure in a yellow gown juxtaposed against a towering pink desert flower—captures the surreal, "queer fantasy" energy I love to bring to the rugged landscape of the Southwest.

Join Me in the Art District

The show is being held at Gallery East at D’Art Gallery, located right in the heart of Denver’s iconic Art District on Santa Fe. Whether you are a long-time collector or just looking for a beautiful way to spend an evening in the district, I’d love to see you at the opening.

  • Opening Reception: August 30, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

  • Location: 900 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204.

  • Gallery Hours: Thursday (12-5pm), Friday (12-9pm), Saturday (12-5pm), and Sunday (11am-4pm).

This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to see how different artists interpret the colors and textures of the Southwest. I’m proud to represent my perspective alongside such a talented group.

Jay Cupcake

I’ve always believed that a great portrait is a collaboration, not just a click of a shutter. My name is Jay, and for over a decade, I’ve been capturing the vibrant, the surreal, and the unapologetically authentic. Recently relocated from the mountains of Colorado to the Twin Cities, I bring an editorial eye and a 'laughter-first' philosophy to every session.

My work spans the spectrum of the human experience—from photographing the Mayor of Denver for Civilian Magazine to creating high-concept digital collages featuring the icons of the drag and variety scene. Whether I’m building a complex 100-layer digital piece or capturing a clean, professional headshot, my goal is to make my subjects feel like the most powerful version of themselves. I don't just take pictures; I help personalities shine through.
