My Gallery Debut at the Curtis Center

Every artist remembers the first time their work steps off the screen and onto a professional gallery wall. For me, that milestone happened at the 39th Annual All Colorado Art Show at the Curtis Center for the Arts.

A Milestone Selection

The All Colorado Art Show is a prestigious statewide tradition, and being selected for the 39th annual exhibition was an incredible way to break into the gallery scene. Out of hundreds of entries from across Colorado, my digital collage was chosen by juror Abigail Kreuser (owner of Kreuser Gallery) to be part of this curated collection.

Walking into the Curtis Center and seeing my work hung alongside such established artists was a surreal and deeply validating experience. It was the moment I realized that my specific "Cupcake" lens—blending digital surrealism with fine art—had a place in the professional art world.

The Power of Local Art

The Curtis Center for the Arts is a stunning space in Greenwood Village, and being part of this 39-year legacy was the perfect introduction to the Colorado arts community. This show set the stage for everything that has followed in my career.

  • Exhibition Dates: July 16 – August 27, 2022

  • Location: Curtis Center for the Arts, Greenwood Village, CO

  • Juror: Abigail Kreuser

UPDATE: A Debut Success! 🏆

I am beyond thrilled to share that my featured collage in this show officially sold! Having my very first gallery piece find a permanent home was the ultimate "red dot" moment. A huge thank you to the collector for believing in my vision from the very start, and to the Curtis Center for such a memorable debut.

Jay Cupcake

I’ve always believed that a great portrait is a collaboration, not just a click of a shutter. My name is Jay, and for over a decade, I’ve been capturing the vibrant, the surreal, and the unapologetically authentic. Recently relocated from the mountains of Colorado to the Twin Cities, I bring an editorial eye and a 'laughter-first' philosophy to every session.

My work spans the spectrum of the human experience—from photographing the Mayor of Denver for Civilian Magazine to creating high-concept digital collages featuring the icons of the drag and variety scene. Whether I’m building a complex 100-layer digital piece or capturing a clean, professional headshot, my goal is to make my subjects feel like the most powerful version of themselves. I don't just take pictures; I help personalities shine through.
