‘The Bawdy Politik’ Heads to Louisville: 31st National Juried Photography Show

I am incredibly honored to announce that my collage piece, ‘The Bawdy Politik,’ has been selected for the Louisville Art Association’s 31st National Juried Photography Show & Sale!

Out of more than 800 entries submitted from across the country, only 100 photographs were chosen by this year's judge, Greg Holden. Being part of that final selection is a huge milestone, and I’m thrilled to be returning to this gallery for a second time.

The Venue: History Meets Modern Fantasy

The show takes place at the Louisville Center for the Arts in Louisville, Colorado. If you haven't been, the venue itself is a work of art—an old Victorian, turn-of-the-century red brick schoolhouse that has served as a creative hub for decades. There is something delicious about hanging "The Bawdy Politik"—a piece that is out, loud, and unapologetically queer—within the walls of such a historic, traditional space.

  • Awards Ceremony: 7:00 pm.

This show is shaping up to be a highlight of my summer. A huge thank you to the Louisville Art Association and the sponsors—including the City of Louisville, Mike's Camera, and SCFD—for making this possible.

Jay Cupcake

I’ve always believed that a great portrait is a collaboration, not just a click of a shutter. My name is Jay, and for over a decade, I’ve been capturing the vibrant, the surreal, and the unapologetically authentic. Recently relocated from the mountains of Colorado to the Twin Cities, I bring an editorial eye and a 'laughter-first' philosophy to every session.

My work spans the spectrum of the human experience—from photographing the Mayor of Denver for Civilian Magazine to creating high-concept digital collages featuring the icons of the drag and variety scene. Whether I’m building a complex 100-layer digital piece or capturing a clean, professional headshot, my goal is to make my subjects feel like the most powerful version of themselves. I don't just take pictures; I help personalities shine through.
